5 biggest misunderstandigs regarding the Recruiting Days 2018
From obligatory cover letters to only german-hiring companies, here are the 5 most common misunderstandigs with regards to the Recruiting Days, that we want clear up now!
#1 „We have to write a cover letter for each application“
Wrong! You only have to add a cover letter or CV to the application, if it is written explicitly in the description of the company (text in italic). If is is required, please upload a pdf (do not write it in the little text field)!
Note: There is one sentence, generated automatically by the system, that says: „You have the possibility to add a cover letter and attach a document to your application.“ Please ignore this, it does NOT mean, you HAVE to attach one.
#2 „The Companies at the Recruiting Days are only hiring German-speaking students“
Even though there are companies who are explicitly looking for German-speakers, there are 19 companies that also provide events for English speakers: Amazon, Axel Springer, Bayer, Bloomberg, DHL Consulting, E.On Inhouse Consulting, goetzpartners, Henkel, McKinsey & Company, Procter & Gamble, Siemens Management Consulting, Societe Generale, S&P Global, Talanx, Textron Aviation, Unibail Rodamco Westfield, Wayfair, Xing, Zalando.
#3 “I don’t know the times of the events and I have to decide beforehand, which events have more priority than others.“
Wrong! You can apply to as many events as you like! After the screening period, companies will give us a list of candidates and we will do the scheduling for you. In case you are invited for 2 events at the same time, we will ask you, which one you would like to attend.
So: No worries for now. The only thing you have to do is to apply!
#4 „I only started my studies/I am not looking for a job right now – so a recruitment event is not interesting for me.“
Not true! Even if you are not recently looking for an opportunity, this is a unique opportunity to connect to future employers, broaden your network & and learn about the various opportunities they offer – knowlegde you will need for the future. You will have the opportunity to talk to the many ESCP Europe alumni, who will join the event and can tell you about their experiences. If you don’t want to apply for for interviews, apply for Round Tables and Company Speed Datings to learn more about companies, that you probably haven’t considered before!
#5 „We don’t have enough information about the companies and what the job opportunities there.“
Just go to the following homepage and click the logos of the attending companies to find the information you are looking for: http://linking-talents.escpeurope.de/rd/profiles1
You will find all the information you need by clicking on the logos and you will be directed tot he specific company profile (there are also further links to the career pages of he companies for more detailed information).
Note: If the Companies offer first-round interviews for jobs, generally they attached a pdf with a job description to the event on the platform.
