Circular Economy

Together with our students Accenture continues procurement transformation

The opportunities of Circular Economy are a steady subject in the courses of our specialised master programmes. That is why we were quite excited about Accenture’s idea for a Company Consultancy Project (CCP) with our students on this topic. In the CCP “Exploration of Circular Economy Opportunities” our students made a very unique experience: as student consultants they had the opportunity to investigate with Accenture´s procurement team how to integrate circular thinking into the procurement process to make supply chain and operations more sustainable.

The students started off the CCP with a kick-off meeting at Accenture’s Berlin office, where they met the Accenture team driving this project. The client representative Laura Rheinbay, consultant at Accenture Strategy, introduced the topic of this CCP to our students, which prepared them perfectly before they dived into the part-time stage of the CCP.

After four weeks of researching Circular Economy best practices for different procurement categories and evaluating and prioritising them, they fully unfolded into their role as student consultants in the following four weeks of working full-time. They engaged directly with Accenture internal stakeholders, screened the procurement process for potential intervention points to integrate Circular Economy, developed guidance material and a road map.

We thank Accenture for this CCP! It allowed our students to apply their knowledge of sustainability concepts to the business practices of a leading global professional services company. The client representative along with her colleagues, supported our students throughout the entire project cycle and gave them a lot of conceptual input, which was just as crucial to the project as our student’s dedication.

Laura Rheinbay, Consultant at Accenture Strategy – Sustainability

“To make sure the student team’s work met Accenture’s high standards, we started the project with a training on communication and PowerPoint skills. We jointly shaped the deliverables in regular feedback sessions, which paid out in excellent results! We already used – and will continue to use – the developed material to raise awareness for Circular Economy opportunities among our procurement colleagues. It was great to see how quickly the students immersed in the topic and identified intervention points in the procurement process. I would recommend a collaboration in a CCP as it gives companies the opportunity to receive support from motivated and well-educated students to jointly investigate solutions for their specific agenda.”

Company Consultancy Projects of Winter term 2017/18 successfully completed

48 students, 13 projects, 8 weeks

Market entry strategy, sector analysis, development of a road map, finance models for non-profit sector, just to name a few of the business challenges tackled by our students during our Company Consultancy Projects (CCP)!

For the first time students of our specialised master programmes in International Sales, Sustainability and Food & Beverage Management participated as student consultants. Each of the 13 projects undertook a business challenge of a company/organisation.

After a four week part-time stage, in which the student teams created a project plan and executed first tasks of problem solving, they dived fully into the full-time stage of four weeks. Two weeks ago we had the pleasure to see the results of their work unfold during the final presentations and in front of their clients.

We have now completed the CCP run of winter term 2017/18 and are very excited about the upcoming CCP round in summer term 2018. We are looking forward to projects, which enable our MBA students in International Management to apply their experience and knowledge!

On the 1st of March 2018 the application round for the next CCPs starts. If you have questions or already an idea for a project, contact CCP Project Coordinator Diana Korkis, dkorkis@escpeurope.eu.

During the project, I learned a lot as it was a challenging project. It was great to apply our knowledge in order to help the client“.
